And the Word Became Flesh

John 1:14-18

The opening chapter of the Gospel of John gives us a divine perspective on the birth of Jesus Christ. John compresses his description of Jesus' birth into a few powerful verses—the most concise New Testament statement of the incarnation of Christ. This passage is richly poetic and profoundly theological, which is why it served as the foundational text for discussions on the person of Christ at the Council of Chalcedon in 451 AD.
